Rick's Road Trip Thurs Oct 29/Sat Nov 1

Next Day

Thurs: Harrison to Hot Springs Village
Drove the Senic route 7 From Harrison, Arkansas to Hot Springs Village. The road passes thru the Ozark national Forest and the Quachita National forest. Very nice drive. Several small towns were along the route as was Booger Hollow. Had to visit Booger Hollow just because of the name. Visted Petit Jean State park to see the waterfall. The trail to the falls was great. Minimum vertical. Not much water in the falls though. Arrived in the late afternoon at my cousin Jackies in Hot Springs Village. It is a private developement of about 30,000 acres. As can be seen from the photos, it is a very nice place. Saw several deer along the road while I was there. Fri and Sat: Visited with cousin Jackie and her husband John. Also there was Ed, a friend of John's from when worked for a living. In Hot Springs, the town not the villiage, are several bath houses. They use the water from the springs for hot baths. Supposed to be rejevenating. Only one bath house is still in operation. Al Capone is supposed to have stayed at The Arlington Hotel. There is a place in town where anyone can get water from the springs.
Sun On to Carlsbad, a two day drive.
